Rezyklierung (Recycling) is a process in which source materials are transformed into secondary raw materials and a new product, the recyclate, which is created from these secondary materials. I adapted this concept and transformed digital film footage of a country road into three states of media presence. The first square shows images that were created by editing and organizing the film footage. The image depicts and shows. The second square is a faulty reproduction of the data in the first. Here the image becomes a machine-readable file and thus loses its image object. The third square shows a sequence created by an AI that interprets the
second square. The image object returns.
The sound was created in the same way and picks up on the tripartition of the image through the stereo arrangement. Cars can be heard, which turn into a cloud of noise (left ear) as well as destroyed audio data (both ears). On the right ear, a techno song can be heard, which was created by artificial intelligence that interpreted the middle square as sound.
